Confined Space Rescue & Emergency Services

    The following course outline is designed to make rescue personnel aware of the hazards associated with confined space entry, rescue and emergency services. Rescue personnel must be evaluated on their ability to respond to a rescue summons in a timely manner, be proficient in rescue related tasks and equipment as well as to function appropriately while rescuing entrants from the particular permit space.

    Note: The first section of the course will only be a summary on each of the listed topics. Section one is approximately one hour. The remaining course will focus on rescue operation requirements, rescue techniques and hands-on evaluations. 

*Each student shall have met additional training requirements as listed below.
  • *29 CFR 1910.146 (k)(2)(ii)

The employer must ensure that such employees successfully complete the training required to establish proficiency as an authorized entrant, as provided by 29 CFR 1910.146 (g) – Training and also 29 CFR 1910.146 (h) Duties of authorized entrants.

Train affected employees in basic first-aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The employer shall ensure that at least one member of the rescue team or service holding a current certification in first-aid and CPR is available.
